Larry Vogelman, Esq.

Larry Vogelman is a renowned New Hampshire trial lawyer who has dedicated his career to representing clients in criminal, death penalty and civil rights matters, trying hundreds of cases to verdict and handling dozens of appeals in state and federal courts. He has lectured in the areas of civil rights litigation and professional ethics, and for over 30 years has trained law students and practitioners in trial advocacy skills.

Vogelman was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review, Editor of the Moot Court Honor Society, and elected to the Order of the Barristers. After starting his career as a criminal defense and appellate attorney at The Legal Aid Society in New York, he spent 15 years as a professor at Cardozo Law School, building the clinical and trial advocacy program with Barry Scheck, who was also his law partner in Vogelman & Scheck. Vogelman moved to New Hampshire in 1994 to be Deputy Director of the New Hampshire Public Defender. Thereafter, he was a partner at Nixon, Vogelman, Slawsky & Simoneau, PA, before joining Shaheen & Gordon as Counsel, the firm from which he retired in August, 2025. While President of the New Hampshire Bar Association, Vogelman created Veterans Law Project, Legal Boots on the Ground, which provided legal assistance to active-duty service members, veterans throughout New Hampshire, and their families. In November 2022, Vogelman helped co-found Veterans Legal Justice, an independent 501 C 3, which has successfully matched over 200 veterans, service members and their families with pro bono legal assistance.

The only Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Defense Lawyers in New Hampshire, Vogelman was also on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for six years. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the New Hampshire Association for Justice, the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a founding member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a Master Emeritus of the Daniel Webster Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
